Licensed Massage Therapist at Being. Therapeutics

Being. Therapeutics | Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn

Being. Therapeutics is a small strength and bodywork studio built around the relationship between movement, strength, recovery, and awareness.

We're looking for a thoughtful, skilled New York State Licensed Massage Therapist to provide bodywork on an independent-contractor basis as our practice grows.

This is not a high-volume spa position. Sessions are individualized, unhurried, and grounded in attentive touch. We want clients to leave feeling restored while developing a better understanding of how movement and strength can support their bodies beyond the treatment room.

This is currently a very part-time, as-booked opportunity with no guaranteed minimum hours. It is best suited to a therapist who already has other employment, their own practice, or other sources of income and would like to add occasional sessions in Bed-Stuy.

What We're Looking For

A personal physical practice is important to us. You may strength train, dance, practice gymnastics, martial arts, Pilates, yoga, climb, run, play a sport, or engage seriously in another form of movement.

You do not need kettlebell experience, although an interest in kettlebells or strength training would be especially welcome.

  • Holds a current New York State Massage Therapy license and professional liability insurance
  • Provides thoughtful, attentive therapeutic bodywork
  • Maintains a meaningful movement or physical practice of their own
  • Has a strong understanding of anatomy and muscular function
  • Communicates clearly and respects client boundaries and autonomy
  • Is comfortable with both conversation and silence during treatment
  • Is receptive to feedback while bringing their own professional judgment and style
  • Is interested in working with active clients and learning more about the physical demands of kettlebell training

The Work

You'll provide individualized bodywork based on each client's needs and your professional judgment. Techniques may include Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial, trigger-point, sports, or other approaches within your training and scope of practice.

Being. will provide the treatment space and connect you with clients. You'll be encouraged to share and record thoughtful post-session observations that help clients develop greater body awareness and identify opportunities to use movement and muscular engagement more efficiently.

Our goal is not to create dependence on passive treatment. Recovery should support the client's ability to move, practice, and become stronger.

Compensation & Schedule

$55–$65 per booked treatment hour, based on experience and fit, plus 100% of gratuities.

Sessions are scheduled based on client demand. No minimum weekly hours are guaranteed at this stage. Scheduling is flexible and designed to work alongside an existing job or private practice.

There is opportunity for the role to grow as Being. grows.

Application

Along with your resume, please tell us: What physical or movement practice is part of your life, and how has it influenced the way you understand or work with the body?

Selected applicants will be invited to a paid practical audition so we can experience your work and learn more about your approach to bodywork.
