Part Time Hair Salon Assistant

In this dynamic role, you'll support hairstylists by managing client flow, maintaining salon cleanliness, and ensuring smooth daily operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing your skills in customer service, hair care, and salon management. Your proactive attitude and attention to detail will be key to delivering exceptional service and supporting the overall success of our salon.

We are looking for someone who sees themselves growing into a hairstylist and we offer ongoing education to the right candidate. Must be available on Fridays and Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients warmly, assist with check-in and appointment scheduling using salon software such as MINDBODY or similar platforms
• Prepare styling stations by sanitizing tools and ensuring all supplies are stocked and organized
• Blow dry, wave/curl, shampoo, apply hair treatments and glazes/toners on clients
• Assist stylists with hair coloring, hair extensions, haircutting and highlight services under supervision
• Maintain salon sanitation standards by cleaning work areas, tools, and equipment regularly
• Upsell additional services to enhance client experience and revenue
• Manage client communication professionally

Requirements

• Must know how to blow dry all types of hair
• Previous experience working in the beauty industry or a cosmetology background preferred
• Knowledge of salon booking software for scheduling and client management
• Familiarity with hair care techniques including coloring, styling, and hair extensions
• Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with clients and team members
• Ability to uphold sanitation standards diligently to ensure a clean and safe environment for all clients and staff
• Basic understanding of color theory and hair styling trends to assist stylists confidently
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting
