Professional Braider and Locs Technician

Duties

• Perform professional braiding techniques including box braids, Senegalese twists, feed-in braids, and intricate locs styles with precision and creativity
• Consult with clients to understand their hair goals and recommend suitable styles and maintenance routines
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and hygiene in all services, including proper sterilization of tools such as straight razors and other implements
• Offer additional services like hair extensions, eyelash extensions, makeup application, and nail care to enhance client satisfaction
• Use salon software such as MINDBODY for appointment scheduling, client records management, and retail sales tracking
• Educate clients on proper hair care routines, product usage, and retail options to promote ongoing hair health and retail sales opportunities
• Assist with front desk duties including greeting clients, managing appointments, and supporting store management operations
• Mentor junior team members by sharing techniques and providing guidance on styling trends and sanitation standards

Skills

• Expertise in various hair styling techniques including braiding, locs installation/maintenance, hair extensions, threading, and makeup application
• Strong knowledge of color theory for hair coloring services and product recommendations
• Proficiency in salon software such as MINDBODY for scheduling and retail management; retail math skills for upselling products effectively
• Excellent communication skills to connect with clients professionally and clearly explain styling options or aftercare instructions
• Deep understanding of sanitation practices to ensure a safe environment for clients and staff
• Experience in store management or leadership roles is a plus for mentoring team members or overseeing daily operations
• Ability to perform barbering services with tools like straight razors when needed for finishing touches
• Knowledge of retail sales techniques including upselling additional services or products like hair care items or accessories
• Familiarity with cosmetology or barbering licenses required; additional certifications in eyelash extensions or nail care are advantageous
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle diverse client needs confidently
