Job Description
About NappStar NYC:We are NappStar, a salon that specializes only in Locs! We are looking for Salon Assistants to assist in loc services and with basic salon operations. Salon Assistants must be familiar with natural hair care maintenance, as their responsibilities may include but are not limited to: assisting with loc styles, loc care, haircare, washes, laundry, sanitizing salon tools, etc. Training is provided and mandatory for this opportunity.
Compensation
Pay: $16/hr - $20/hr + 5% service sales + client tips
Responsibilities
- Must be coachable and adaptable
- Welcome customers and identify their preferences by asking pointed questions
- Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. ACV treatments, scalp treatment oils, and hydrating masks)
- Coming in to work camera ready to be showcased on Social Media
- Form bonds with loyal customers and remember their hair preferences
- Ensure tidiness of beauty stations and sterilize tools, as needed
- Maintain laundry and overall tidiness of stylist tools
- Refill stylist products
- Check in / out clients at the front desk
- Do spin cycles to ensure cleanliness and order during the day
Required Skills
- Excellent communication skill with clients and team members
- Physical stamina to shampoo multiple clients every shift
- Shampoo and comb retwist experience
- Experience with other loc services is a plus
Job Duties
- Be on time for shift
- Clock In / Clock out for shifts
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality work environment
- Perform services within time standards
- Adhere to the uniform standard (including hair)
- Complete open / close tasks per shift
- Follow our salon standards for services, behavior and general workflow
- Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training clients in these areas
- Keep a clean and hygienic work space
- Service clients within NappStar standards for quality of service and time standards
- Develop professional relationships with regular clients and welcome new clients
- Assist fellow stylists with services during downtown to ensure no wait time for clients
- Communicate effectively with Front Desk team about service pricing and client notes
- Participate in creating content with the social media team for salon marketing
- Offer professional salon experiences to every client
- Participate in Check Ins and Reviews
- Offer client service Redo's at no-charge
- Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record
- Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product
- Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the salon's policies and procedures
- Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or clients in the salon that require attention
- Maintain complete confidentiality in all client matters in accordance with company policy
- Handle client questions and concerns professionally
- Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by clients ensuring complete client satisfaction
- Possess the ability to work without direct supervision
- Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the salon
- Assist in all areas of salon operations, as requested by management
- Work during black out dates and required working days
- Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the salon
