Hair Stylist Assistant

Duties

• Assist senior stylists with hair styling, including blowouts, trims, and special occasion looks
• Prepare clients for services by performing consultations on hair extensions, color theory, and hair threading techniques
• Support with retail sales by recommending products such as hair care, nail care, makeup, and eyelash extensions to enhance client results
• Maintain salon sanitation standards by cleaning tools, stations, and ensuring proper sterilization practices are followed
• Manage front desk responsibilities including appointment scheduling using salon software like MINDBODY and greeting clients warmly
• Assist with store management tasks such as inventory checks for retail products and organizing supplies
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries, upselling services or retail items, and fostering a positive atmosphere

Requirements

• Prior experience or training in cosmetology or barbering is preferred but not required; a passion for learning is essential
• Knowledge of hair extensions, eyelash extensions, makeup application, and nail care is a plus
• Familiarity with salon software systems such as MINDBODY for scheduling and client management
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
• Ability to perform sanitation procedures diligently to ensure a safe environment for everyone
• Basic retail math skills for upselling products confidently and accurately
• Willingness to mentor new team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends or evenings as needed
