Licensed Hair Stylist

This is a woman-owned small business located in Murray Hill, Manhattan. The ideal candidate is skilled in providing a range of professional hair services, including washing, coloring, blow-drying, and styling. Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential. We are seeking a part-time or full-time stylist who is motivated, creative, and dedicated to delivering a great salon experience for our clients. We believe in empowering our stylists to grow their skills and build lasting relationships with clients, all while working in a lively, supportive atmosphere.

This is a commission-based job.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of hair services, including cutting, styling, coloring, updos, and hair extensions, to meet clients' unique preferences.
• Use advanced techniques such as balayage, highlights, and color theory to achieve desired looks.
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in accordance with state cosmetology regulations.
• Provide personalized consultations to understand client needs and recommend suitable hair care products or treatments.
• Upsell retail products and additional services to enhance the client experience and increase salon revenue.

Requirements

• Valid state cosmetology or barbering license with active certification as a Hair Stylist.
• Proven experience working in the beauty industry with strong skills in hair styling, coloring, and hair care.
• Proficiency in sanitation practices, ensuring a safe environment for clients and staff.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse clients and understanding their aesthetic goals.
• Ability to perform specialized hair services.
• Familiarity with store management principles to contribute effectively within the team setting.
• Hair styling: 5 years (Preferred)
• English (Required)
• Cosmetology License (Required)
