SALON ASSISTANT

The Mane Haven is a luxury, high-energy salon specializing in modern, lived-in hair, with locations in Mamaroneck and Eastchester, NY.

We’re looking for a licensed cosmetologist who is passionate about the beauty industry, eager to learn, and excited to become part of a team where education, growth, and an elevated client experience are at the center of everything we do.

This is more than an assistant position. It’s an opportunity to build a strong foundation behind the chair while working alongside experienced stylists, receiving hands-on education and mentorship, and learning what it takes to grow a successful career in the salon industry.

What the Role Looks Like

As a Salon Assistant, you’ll work closely with our stylists throughout the day to keep the salon running smoothly while creating an exceptional experience for every guest.

Responsibilities include:

• Shampooing, conditioning, detangling, and preparing clients for services

• Assisting stylists throughout color, lightening, haircutting, and styling services

• Preparing color, tools, and supplies

• Performing blow-dries and styling as your skills progress

• Greeting clients and helping create a warm, elevated experience from arrival to finish

• Resetting stations and maintaining a clean, organized salon environment

• Keeping shampoo and color areas clean, stocked, and ready

• Anticipating what stylists and clients need throughout the day

• Supporting the overall flow and efficiency of the salon

• Participating in ongoing education, model days, and hands-on training

Who We’re Looking For

We want someone who is motivated, professional, reliable, and genuinely excited to learn.

The ideal candidate:

• Holds a valid NYS Cosmetology License

• Has a strong interest in modern hair, color, cutting, and styling

• Takes pride in their appearance and has an eye for fashion, beauty, and current trends

• Is warm, personable, and confident interacting with clients

• Works well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

• Is proactive and looks for ways to help without always needing to be asked

• Is detail-oriented, organized, and takes pride in keeping their workspace beautiful

• Is receptive to feedback and excited to continue developing their skills

• Wants to become part of a salon and team they can grow with long-term

Previous salon experience is preferred, but the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn are most important.Strong blow-dry skills are a plus.

Education is a major part of The Mane Haven.

Our assistants have opportunities for hands-on training, model work, mentorship, and continued education in areas including blow-drying and styling, haircutting, color formulation, lightening, lived-in color techniques, and the overall client experience.

We believe becoming a great stylist starts with building a strong foundation. We’re looking for someone who is excited to put in the time, learn the fundamentals, and grow intentionally—not simply rush through the assistant stage.
