Curly Hair Stylist Assistant + Mentorship Opportunity

Are you a licensed cosmetologist passionate about curly and textured hair and looking to grow your skills?

The Mane Haven is looking for an assistant to work directly alongside curly hair specialist Olivia Joy. This is first and foremost an assistant position, with the added opportunity to receive ongoing education, hands-on training, and mentorship in curly hair.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely wants to become an excellent assistant, thrive in a fast-paced salon environment, and build a strong foundation before taking on more responsibility behind the chair. This is not a quick transition-to-stylist position — growth will happen intentionally as your skills, confidence, and consistency develop.

What the Role Looks Like

Your primary responsibility will be supporting Olivia throughout the salon day while helping create a smooth, efficient, elevated client experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Shampooing, detangling, and preparing clients

• Assisting with curly styling and diffusing

• Supporting custom color and lightening services

• Preparing color, tools, and supplies

• Sectioning and assisting throughout technical services

• Maintaining a clean, organized workspace

• Supporting salon flow and the client experience

• Anticipating what is needed in a fast-paced environment

As your skills develop, additional hands-on responsibilities will be introduced.

What You’ll Learn

Through ongoing education and mentorship, you’ll gain experience in:

• Curly cutting, styling, and diffusing across different curl types and textures

• Curl patterns, density, porosity, and individual hair needs

• Product selection and curly hair education

• Custom color and lightening techniques for curly hair

• Curly hair extensions, maintenance, and care

• Consultations and client education

• Technical sectioning and service preparation

• Salon timing, workflow, organization, and efficiency

• Creating a high-level client experience

• Building the technical and professional skills needed for a long-term career behind the chair

Who We’re Looking For

You do not need to already be a curly hair expert. We’re looking for a licensed cosmetologist who is passionate about curly and textured hair, excited to work as an assistant, receptive to coaching, reliable, hardworking, organized, proactive, and committed to developing their skills over time.
