Hair Braider at VIP Style Barber Shop

We are seeking a talented and energetic Hair Braider to join our dynamic salon team!

Currently looking for a highly skilled braider at VIP Style Barber Shop. Our contact number is 718-822-2226 and our address is 3801 East Tremont Ave, Bronx, NY 10465. It is an upscale barbershop with 14 chairs and 16 4K televisions. Each station has a custom built 22" screen and air compression hoses. We sell barber products, have a hot towel machine, central AC and heat, bright lights in the shop, and a state of the art sound system. You want to make money, this is the spot. We've been here for 14 years in a great area.

In this role, you will bring your passion for hair styling and creativity to craft beautiful, intricate braids that leave clients feeling confident and refreshed. Your expertise in various braiding techniques, combined with excellent customer service skills, will help create a welcoming environment where clients feel valued and inspired. Pay: $23.66 - $28.49 per hour

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of braiding styles including box braids, cornrows, twists, French braids, Dutch braids, and intricate custom designs tailored to client preferences.
• Assist clients with hair consultations to recommend suitable styles and maintenance routines.
• Incorporate hair extensions and other enhancements to achieve desired looks while maintaining hair health.
• Apply hair extensions seamlessly to enhance volume and length while ensuring natural appearance.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with industry regulations to ensure a safe environment.
• Use salon software such as MINDBODY for scheduling appointments, processing transactions, and managing client records efficiently.
• Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with clients professionally, listening attentively to their needs, and offering styling advice.
• Upsell retail products like hair care items, styling tools, and accessories to enhance client satisfaction and salon revenue.
• Assist with front desk duties including greeting clients, managing wait times, and processing retail sales.
• Mentor junior team members in hair styling techniques, customer service excellence, and salon operations to foster a collaborative environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in hair braiding techniques with a strong portfolio of completed styles.
• Expertise in various braiding techniques such as box braids, micro braids, Senegalese twists, and more complex styles.
• Knowledge of hair extensions application methods and color theory to match client hair seamlessly.
• Certification in cosmetology or barbering is preferred; a valid license is required where applicable.
• Strong understanding of sanitation practices including sterilizing tools and maintaining a clean work environment.
• Proficiency with salon software systems like MINDBODY for appointment booking and client management.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to educate clients about hair care and styling options.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety.
• Excellent communication skills to clearly understand client needs and provide personalized recommendations.
• Ability to upsell retail products such as hair extensions, styling tools, or skincare items effectively while maintaining genuine customer relationships.
• Experience with eyelash extensions, nail care, makeup application, or hair threading is a plus for providing comprehensive beauty services.
