Shampoo Assistant

Duties

• Prepare clients for hair styling or barbering services by performing shampooing, conditioning, and scalp treatments with care and professionalism
• Assist stylists and barbers during appointments by providing support with hair extensions, eyelash extensions, or hair threading as needed
• Maintain salon sanitation standards by cleaning tools, shampoo bowls, workstations, and common areas regularly
• Manage front desk responsibilities including greeting clients, scheduling appointments using salon software such as MINDBODY, and handling retail sales of hair care products
• Support store management with inventory checks, retail math calculations, and restocking supplies to ensure a well-organized workspace
• Engage with clients through excellent customer service by offering product recommendations, upselling services like makeup application or nail care, and ensuring their overall satisfaction
• Mentor new team members on salon procedures, product knowledge, and customer engagement techniques to foster a collaborative environment

Experience

• Previous experience in a salon or barbering environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
• Knowledge of hair styling techniques including color theory, straight razor shaving, and hair extensions is advantageous
• Familiarity with salon software systems such as MINDBODY for appointment scheduling and client management is a plus
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members in a lively setting
• Basic understanding of sanitation practices specific to cosmetology and barbering standards
• Experience in retail sales or upselling beauty services enhances your ability to contribute to store management goals
• Certification or training in cosmetology or barbering is beneficial but not mandatory; willingness to learn on the job is highly valued
