Assistant to a Lead Stylist / Stylist

Responsibilities

• Assist lead stylists with client consultations, hair treatments, and styling procedures
• Prepare styling stations, tools, and products for daily appointments
• Support with sanitation protocols, including cleaning tools and work areas to ensure a hygienic environment
• Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, checking clients in/out, and answering inquiries
• Promote retail sales by recommending hair care products, extensions, makeup, and nail care items
• Assist with specialized services like eyelash extensions, hair threading, or hair coloring under supervision
• Maintain knowledge of salon software systems like MINDBODY for booking and client records management
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about their services and aftercare instructions

Requirements

• Previous experience working in the beauty industry or a strong passion for hair styling and grooming
• Knowledge of salon software systems such as MINDBODY or similar platforms
• Basic understanding of sanitation standards and cosmetology practices
• Familiarity with hair care techniques including coloring, styling, extensions, and barbering (straight razor use)
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
• Ability to multitask efficiently at the front desk while supporting stylists during appointments
• Willingness to learn new skills such as hair threading, makeup application, or retail upselling
• Certification in cosmetology or barbering is preferred but not required; ongoing training opportunities available
