Hair Salon Assistant

Duties

• Greet clients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in at the front desk, ensuring a seamless customer experience
• Maintain salon cleanliness and sanitation standards to promote a safe and hygienic environment
• Support stylists with hair washing, towel folding, and organizing tools and products for efficient service delivery
• Manage retail sales by recommending hair care products, accessories, and add-on services through effective upselling techniques
• Assist with appointment scheduling using salon software such as MINDBODY or similar platforms to optimize daily bookings
• Prepare styling stations with necessary tools and supplies ahead of client appointments
• Support store management by inventorying products, restocking shelves, and tracking retail math to ensure stock levels are maintained

Skills

• Strong communication skills to interact confidently with clients and team members
• Basic knowledge of salon software systems like MINDBODY for appointment management
• Familiarity with sanitation practices specific to the beauty industry to ensure client safety
• Experience working in the beauty or cosmetology industry is preferred, including knowledge of hair coloring, styling, and barbering techniques such as straight razor use and hair extensions
• Ability to assist with specialized services like eyelash extensions, hair threading, makeup application, nail care, and hair coloring based on training or experience
• Knowledge of color theory to support stylist consultations and client requests effectively
• Retail sales skills including upselling products like hair care items and retail math proficiency for inventory management
• Mentoring abilities to support new team members and foster a collaborative environment
