Salon Assistant
Assistant Responsibilities
Main:
- Washing clients hair when needed/ helping stylist when needed
- Sweep after every haircut
- Blowdry Clients
- Tone Clients
- Extension assistance
- Keep on top of laundry (hair laundry/esthetician laundry)
- Dishes and Making sure salon stays clean/tidy
Opening:
- Make lemon/mint water and set up beverage station.
- Fold laundry left in dryer overnight
- Throw any left over laundry from previous night in washer
- Make sure developers are filled
- Pull foils if needed
- Catch up on anything left over from the night before
- Check schedule for the day
- Cleaning during downtime (wipe down chairs, mirrors, sinks, bathrooms), dust shelves
- Stock bathrooms when needed, fill soaps
- Sweep/mop shampoo room, lobby and break room
- Organize color tubes in back bar, put in correct places
- Fill developer bottles (6 vol, 20 vol)
- Keep sinks clean at all times, wiping down bottles, removing hair in sink, wipe head rest and remove color
- Change vacuum bag if needed
- Pull foils
- Put away new color/ shipment orders
- Throw away old magazines
- Clean out fridges, throw away outdated food
- Write down things we are low on/ in need of (developer, bleach, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.)
- Vacuum stairs
Closing:
- Take down beverage station
- Take out trash (8 trashes/ 2 recycling bins)
- Clean up salon (left out cups/ food, magazines, etc.)
- Wipe down counter in color room w/ bleach
- Wipe down shampoo sinks and remove hair
- Big sweep
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend all education
- Proactively watch and ask questions with stylists while they work
- Take classes outside of salon to grow education
Weekly Ordering Check:
Check for what needs to be ordered at the end of each week:
- Developer bottles
- Bleach
- Foils
- Gloves
- Hair nets
- BJs/Costco items:
- Dish soap/hand soap
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Tissues
- Windex/bleach spray
- Trash bags/recycle bags
When there is nothing to do, there is always something to do!
