Salon Assistant/Apprentice

Duties

• Assist senior stylists with hair styling, coloring, and extension applications
• Maintain salon cleanliness and sanitation standards to ensure a safe environment for clients and staff
• Support front desk operations by greeting clients, scheduling appointments using salon software like MINDBODY, and managing check-ins and check-outs
• Promote retail products through upselling techniques and provide product recommendations based on client needs
• Prepare styling stations with tools and supplies for upcoming appointments
• Participate in mentoring sessions to develop skills

Experience

• Previous experience or training in cosmetology or barbering is preferred but not required; enthusiasm to learn is essential
• Knowledge of salon software systems such as MINDBODY or similar platforms is a plus
• Familiarity with color theory, sanitation practices, retail math, and store management concepts will be advantageous
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
• Basic understanding of retail sales techniques and upselling strategies to enhance client experience
• Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a lively salon environment
