Junior Hairstylist at Beauty Social Salon

You'll work directly alongside owner and celebrity hairstylist Angela Calisti, learning her techniques in color, blonding, cutting, styling, and consultations.

This position also includes working independently in the salon two days per week, taking appointments and walk-ins. You must already have hands-on experience with color, haircuts, and blowouts and feel confident performing these services independently.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside Angela, assisting with services and learning the salon's techniques and standards.
• Take appointments and walk-ins, providing consultations, color services, haircuts, blowouts, and styling within your demonstrated skill level.
• Communicate service plans and pricing clearly before starting.
• Recognize when a service requires guidance and ask before proceeding.
• Answer calls, book appointments, check clients out, and maintain accurate client notes and color formulas in Vagaro.
• Help build your clientele through great service, rebooking, and showcasing your work on social media.
• Support the team and maintain a clean, organized salon.
• Handle opening and closing responsibilities on independent shifts.

Qualifications

• Current New York State cosmetology license.
• Practical experience performing color services, haircuts, and blowouts on clients.
• A solid foundation in single-process color, gray coverage, root touch-ups, glosses, and color application.
• Comfortable managing routine services and salon responsibilities independently.
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and proactive.
• Open to constructive feedback and committed to ongoing education.
• Professional, friendly, and team-oriented.
• Able to commute reliably to Astoria and commit to the required schedule.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Interested in building a long-term career with Beauty Social.

Our Hiring Process

• Initial Zoom interview.
• In-person interview and practical model demonstration.
