Hair Stylist/Color Specialist at Michael Albor Salons
Job Description
The Michael Albor Salons has openings for both part-time and full-time Hair Stylists at our Back Bay Boston and Norwell locations.Openings are ideal for candidates looking for flexible hours and days. These are NOT booth or chair rental opportunities, but rather commissionable employment positions for "experienced" Stylists, who are looking to join a dynamic group of highly skilled professionals.
Weekly pay is based on a 45% commission rate on the services provided, but also includes achievable weekly incentive bonuses as well as a 20% commission on retail sales.
Benefits include a 50% company sponsored health insurance plan through the Massachusetts health connector, 80 hours/2 weeks of paid vacation, and 40/1 week of paid sick time, along with a new 2022 safe harbor 401k plan. We provide both paid and unpaid educational opportunities.
Management sets all pricing and helps each stylist increase their clientele through our digital advertising programs.
Responsibilities
- Warmly greet each client professionally by name to make the client as comfortable as possible and to provide all clients with the best possible experience at the Michael Albor Salons
- Discuss hairstyle options with client
- Wash, color, lighten, and condition hair
- Chemically change hair textures
- Cut, dry, and style hair
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area
- Coordinate with Front Desk to maintain appointments and a proper book of business
- Promote and sell services and products to maximize customer satisfaction
- Be a team-player. Establish respectful and cooperative relationships with all staff members
- Clock in and Clock out during work hours
- Work with management to bring new clients
Required Experience
- Proven work experience in a salon environment
- Proficiency in a variety of hair styles and color techniques
- Licensed in Cosmetology in Massachusetts and a High School Diploma
Required Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with clients and coworkers
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to multitask
- Able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends
- The capacity to remain calm under stressful circumstances
- Good listening skills

Please note that the Boston Salon is T accessible, but only metered street parking is available, whereas the Norwell Salon has free parking.
