Hair Stylist Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist senior stylists with hair styling, including blowouts, trims, and special treatments such as hair extensions and eyelash extensions
• Prepare clients for services by performing consultations, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
• Maintain salon cleanliness and sanitation standards to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for clients and staff
• Manage appointment scheduling using salon software like MINDBODY, including front desk check-ins and check-outs
• Support retail sales by upselling hair care products, nail care items, makeup application tools, and other beauty essentials
• Assist with color theory applications and basic hair coloring techniques under supervision
• Help with store management tasks such as inventory tracking, retail math calculations, and restocking supplies

Qualifications

• Passionate about the beauty industry with an eagerness to learn hair styling techniques and salon operations
• Basic knowledge of sanitation practices and cosmetology or barbering fundamentals preferred
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Experience or interest in hair threading, nail care, makeup application, or retail sales is a plus
• Willingness to learn about salon software systems like DaySmart for scheduling and client management
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
