Dermatology Medical Assistant

Duties

• Assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Perform intake assessments, including documentation of current medications and documenting medical histories.
• Provide medical administrative support, including managing patient records within EHR systems.
• Administer medications as directed by physicians/physician assistants and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, skincare routines, and post-procedure care.
• Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively.
• Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to assist in patient assessments and care plans.
• Support urgent care needs as they arise, demonstrating flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Dermatology of at least 5 years is required to apply.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding and familiarity with outpatient settings is advantageous.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant is required.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to dermatological conditions.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably EMA for efficient patient management.
• Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
• Prior experience in a Dermatology clinic, OR setting, or Level I/II trauma center is desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
