Dermatology Medical Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the providers in providing exceptional patient care. This position involves working closely with patients, assisting with various Dermatological procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinical department.Duties
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Perform intake assessments, including documentation of current medications and documenting medical histories.
- Provide medical administrative support, including managing patient records within EHR systems.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians/physician assistants and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, skincare routines, and post-procedure care.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to assist in patient assessments and care plans.
- Support urgent care needs as they arise, demonstrating flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in Dermatology of at least 5 years is required to apply.
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding and familiarity with outpatient settings is advantageous.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to dermatological conditions.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably EMA for efficient patient management.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Prior experience in a Dermatology clinic, OR setting, or Level I/II trauma center is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
