Barber at Tonsorial Trading Post

Tonsorial Trading Post is a small, independent barber studio in Sturbridge, MA built around craftsmanship, personal service, and genuine relationships with our guests.

We are intentionally different from a high-volume barbershop. Our studio is quiet, relaxed, and focused on giving each person in the chair an exceptional experience. We believe a haircut should be more than simply getting cleaned up—it should be time to slow down, feel taken care of, and leave feeling confident.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a barber who shares that philosophy and wants to become an important part of our shop.

The Position

We are looking for a professional, personable, and motivated barber who takes pride in their craft and enjoys building long-term relationships with clients.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

• Takes pride in delivering high-quality haircuts and grooming services
• Enjoys providing a personalized experience rather than rushing through appointments
• Is dependable, professional, and respectful
• Has strong communication and consultation skills
• Wants to build and maintain a loyal clientele
• Is interested in continuing to improve their technical skills
• Enjoys being part of a small, positive team
• Understands the importance of cleanliness, organization, and presentation
• Has a genuine interest in making people feel comfortable and confident

Compensation

Our compensation is designed to reward productivity and encourage barbers to build their clientele.

• Service Commission: 75% commission
• Retail: 20% commission on retail sales

Additional compensation and benefits may be available depending on experience and position.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Current Massachusetts barber license
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work independently
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Preferred:

• Existing clientele
• Experience with men's cutting, fades, scissor work, beard grooming, and hot towel services
• Interest in advanced barbering education
• Experience working in a premium or hospitality-focused environment
